About this projects

A web dashboard that helps gas station managers monitor sales and performance in real time.

The goal of the project was to adapt an existing desktop add-on used in the POS system into a full web application. The POS software manages all sales made at the gas station and convenience store, along with stock management and other complementary features. By moving this experience to the web, managers would gain a real-time view of their business without needing to be physically present.

Understanding the problem

From the previous project, we already had a strong foundation of interviews that helped shape early assumptions about user profiles. To validate and deepen this understanding, we created two personas based on a survey sent to an existing base of users.

After defining the personas, we mapped their journeys through the future web application, identified their pain points, and generated ideas that would meaningfully improve their daily work.

Main activities:
• Used previous interviews as baseline knowledge
• Ran a survey to refine and build two personas
• Created journey maps to uncover workflows and frustrations
• Identified improvements and opportunities based on pain points

Sketching & early prototyping

Low-fidelity wireframes helped explore multiple arrangements of content, menus, charts, and key information. Iterating quickly allowed us to test ideas with the team, stakeholders, and users, ensuring we reached a version that was functional and intuitive before moving into visual design.

Main activities:
• Explored layout structures through low-fidelity sketches
• Defined the menu organization and data visualization placement
• Validated early concepts with team members and users
• Finalized a wireframe ready for UI design

UI Design

The final UI followed a light theme inspired by Material Design. Colors were applied primarily in graphics to help users quickly distinguish information. While the product was designed mainly for desktop, the layout was built on a responsive grid to support development and future scalability.

Main activities:
• Designed a light interface based on Material Design principles
• Created readable and scannable charts for quick insights
• Built desktop-first layouts with responsive structure
• Delivered the final UI in Photoshop and validated flows using InVision

Key learnings

This project allowed me to deeply understand gas station operations and the role POS systems play in day-to-day tasks. I learned how employees interact with these tools, what managers expect from real-time reporting, and how to design an experience that supports both efficiency and clarity. It was rewarding to contribute to a product that could simplify work for so many people.
